Left is Iditarod 2006 Champion Jeff King with lead dog Salem, winner of the Golden Harness Award. Cheri Hollenback captured this adorable moment between the two of 'em at the Finishers Banquet in Nome. This one photo says more about the canine-human bond than I could say in a thousand words. I've been to Jeff's kennel and seen the wonderful bond he has with all his dogs, but this is clearly something special.

Thanks for all your great articles, I've enjoyed reading each one, especially the fan one! I post on the Cabelas site a lot and so I'm familiar with you from that.
I have an unrelated Alaska question & thought you might know more about it....I wonder if you are familiar with the Paul Rees cabin in Anchorage that is in danger of being demolished? I caught the headline in ADN and found a website that tells all about their homestead days. So interesting. It seems another great treasure from the past is about to go under the dozer, so sad.
