Blue Marble
http://www.bluemarbles.org/ seems to be where the idea started.
It quickly spread, even to Wasilla, Alaska. Check out the link below for more info on what the Mat-Su Carbon Crew's objectives are and some of the activities involved, including those elusive Blue Marbles. I'll explain the significance of the marble later.

You'll be seeing photos of what mine, known simply as Blue, is up to as I get time. I may not be a student at the college, but I still care about our world and, besides, it's going to be fun. And, if you're on Facebook, here's the profile/bio of the group.
Reduce, reuse, and recycle, grow more food locally, use more renewable energy for electricity and heating, make products, create jobs.
Individuals can make a big difference. Creating awareness of the Peaceful Green Revolution
Carbon is the backbone of ALL life on Earth because carbon bonds easily with other elements to form complex molecules.
We are a group of Mat-Su College students focusing on the creation of green jobs, renewable energy, reducing, reusing, and recycling resources to build stronger more sustainable communities.
