Wasilla, some Christmas Lights

Santa's sleigh along Briar
Given that I wasn't planning on doing anything but dropping an envelope with a book in the mailbox, not great shots, only had the long lens and wasn't dressed to get outta the car to hold it steadier, but here's a small sampling of the lights between my house and Wasilla Lake. This one is at the Fire Station.
Wasilla Lake. See entry below for a daylight view.
Pulling up a bit closer.... Do you think I could talk the city into moving that dang pole?
Getting bored after taking a dozen shots, I started playing with the camera.
Woot, I kinda liked this one, especially after I cheated and made it blue via PhotoShop.

Christmas tree outside Wasilla City Hall
Honest, it's more colorful than this one makes it look. I'll have to try again later with the short lens when I'm dressed to be out of the car.

Mid-Week View

Seriously, who'd have ever thought Alaska would be having some of the sanest winter weather around? Cold and snow on the ground, but just the norm here, with a soft pink in the skies.
Shhhh, don't tell anyone that when I get bored in the ATM drive-up, I resort to taking photos of the trees along the way.

Believe it or not, this was a "retrieving the trash can" quick snap down the road. I'd been kicking myself that morning cos I missed a pretty clear shot of the moon south of here, so took the camera along when I went out to get the trash can and got this view to the North.
In an otherwise pretty white world, a streak of red-pink does its best to peek through behind Betty's spruce tree in the yard.

Giving Myself a Time-Out at the Lake

Moose!??! This one is new and upon closer inspection, is designed to be a Christmas decoration. It's obviously lined with lights. I'll have to get out one evening after dark (gee, that's tough, try after four) and snap a photo of it with its lights glowing.

Check out the "not sunny" parking area. The sun was low enough behind the moutains behind me that there was no sunshine in the lower area where the car sat waiting.

Stalking Hoar Frost...a raven, a few rocks, trees and mountains

Back to my own front yard

Just to give you an idea of the climb up the hill to my house (that's my fence sorta left-center) I took this from the mailbox, which isn't quite at the bottom of the hill. As you can tell, the mailbox wasn't getting any sunlight and it was about 1:30 PM.

Betty's spruce tree was sparkling in the sunlight!

Okay, I lied. This one is from the front into the backyard.
