A little sunshine, a little rain, a little....snow? Hatcher Pass

The weather wasn't looking real promising when we left but, hey, this is Alaska. We're tough, right?
The Little Su was quite lovely
Huh? What a strange looking....whatever. Almost looks like a curtain is being drawn across the mountainside.
And, dang, those dark clouds hadn't deserted me.
Looking down toward the Valley from about half-way up the main climb.
Taken from my favorite pull-over, one just before you turn a corner and can see the lodge and mine areas. Gotta love the straight line look, huh?

Up at the entrance to the mine area, those white spots you see are snowflakes! More a rainy snow than anything else, but it was definitely snowing.

That's not a mist or haze, that's snow providing the fuzzy focus.

Can you imagine what it must have been like to live here in the "good ol' days" when access wasn't so easy and being snowed on in "almost June" could be downright depressing instead of "cool"?

Without the zoom, it's even difficult to pick out the mine's buildings in the distance.

Heading back down, the spots on the windshield are from the snow-rain.
